Lussac, the Templar Chapel at St Paul and La Metaire du Breuillet 6.7km Ramble

6.7km Ramble - gently undulating with nothing very steep.  One of our favourite walks (thanks Nicky). A good walk to do all year round except on very hot sunny days.

Largely on tarmac roads with some sections on grass and tracks.

Shady in a few places but largely in the open.

Points of interest - Plenty of interest including Chateau, fortified farms, the river Seugne and old chapels.

Start point - Parking by the Chateau de Lussac.  Follow signs to the Chateau and then turn left forthe parking.

Note that on the section towards St Paul there is a footpath off to the left that Google Maps doesn't record which is a better route.   The end twiddle is to go down to the lavoir which is worth doing.


For those who like paper maps, use IGN Serie Bleue 1533 Jonzac.

Clion-sur-Seugne 6.5km Ramble taking in Pont-des-Ânes

  Photos taken on this Clion walk. 6.5km Ramble - mainly flat.  It is possible to shorten or lengthen this route quite easily by looking at Google Maps. Largely on tarmac roads with some sections on grass through the vines and chalky tracks. Shady stopping point by the Pont des Anes with access to the river for dogs to cool down and drink water. Points of interest - Pont-des-Ânes (Gallo Romain Bridge), River Seugne, Old buildings in Clion including the Museum, Church, old station etc. Start point - Parking for the Salles des Fêtes, 1 place de 19 mars 1962, Clion-sur-Seudre, 17240.  (ample parking for many cars). Lorignac 6km ramble (Variante de la Motte)

Photos taken on this walk in Lorignac. 6km Ramble - mainly flat.  This is based on a ramble received from a local Tourist Office (see below) and there are longer variants. A mixture of tarmac roads, chalky tracks and grass and earth surfaces as well. Shady in the forest sections.   Can get muddy after rain.  So best as a summer walk. Points of interest - Lorignac itself plus some nice views. Start point - Parking in Place de la Fontaine just off the D730 in the centre of Lorignac. Map and directions (in French).  We went on the green coloured route. Use IGN Série Bleue map 1533 Jonzac if you want a more detailed map to go with the instructions above.
